Guidelines on the Disease during the
Conversion Period
- Vaccine choice and use should be agreed with the nominated veterinary
surgeon to ensure adequate disease protection during the conversion period.
- Where possible, reduction in the use of clostridial
vaccines should be part of the overall animal health plan.
- Where bacillary haemoglobinuria is a problem, management changes may need
to be put in place to prevent liver
fluke.
- Similarly, where malignant oedema and tetanus are a problem, good hygienic
measures should be taken during castration, calving assistance and other
surgical procedures.
