Good Practice based on Current Knowledge

• Over and above the statutory BSE control measures (see Prevention and Control), at the moment, no cattle from herds that have had BSE in the last six years can be brought into an organic herd.
• Establish a closed herd policy.
• Source bought-in feed from a reliable and reputable source.
• Report suspected cases to the State Veterinary Services immediately.
