Guidelines on the Disease during the Conversion Period

Current regulations state that animals cannot be bought-in from herds that have had BSE in the last six years. Herds that are in cenversion must remove all cohorts and offspring of confirmed BSE cases from the herd before the end of conversion period. The Soil Association also requires that animals bought into the herd after 31 December 1993 fro herds wiht unknown BSE history, must be treated as cohorts and removed before the end of cenversion period.
