Guidelines on the Disease during the Conversion Period

• Establish a closed herd policy.
• Screen and isolate bought-in animals.
• Establish good biosecurity on the farm.
• Establish a good recording system for abortions on the farm (date, cow, stage of gestation, additional information, results of systemic examination by a vet).
• Get a veterinarian to carry out a systemic examination of all cases of abortion in the herd (including a laboratory examination).
• If the herd incidence of abortions is more than 5%, make a disease reduction plan with your veterinarian, once the causes have been identified.
