Guidelines on the Disease during the Conversion Period

• If the farm has had identified cases of listeriosis in the past or has suffered from late gestation abortions caused by unidentified pathogens, the animal health plan for the conversion period should indicate precautionary recommendations:

• Good quality silage
• Removal of fermented and spoiled silage
• Laboratory examination of all abortion cases.

• The number of outbreaks should be assessed during the conversion to ensure that cases do not reoccur.
