Guidelines on the Disease during the
Conversion Period
- During the first year of the conversion period, regular faecal samples should be taken
from the calves to determine the worm burden on the farm. Work out a plan with the named
veterinary surgeon to reduce the dependency on anthelmintics during the conversion period
as part of the overall health plan (see: Control).
- Faecal samples should also be taken after treatment with an anthelmintic to test the
efficacy of the drench used and establish whether there is anthelmintic resistance on the
farm.
